Stuff and whatnot...

I have been so preoccupied lately, I haven't had much time to post over here. I've been working on my Suze Says blog and still trying to tweak starrbrite.com, and there's been a little bit of drama around the homefront that has me kinda preoccupied. The other day my roomie, Phil, informed me, very much out of the blue, that he wants me to find somewhere for my baby, Daisy, to go. He says he's decided she's just too big for the house. I don't know why, all of a sudden, she's too big, but he says it's too much with 4 dogs and the cat, and with her being so big it's just too much. She's a 1-1/2 old black great dane, so yeah, she's a little big, but she's so calm and sweet and more well-behaved than the other 3, but he says she's got to go. Bottom line is, he wants to start dating and inviting women over, and I think he's afraid she'll scare them or jump on them or something. She doesn't jump on people, but I really don't know. I could just keep her in the room with me when he has company, but I guess that's not an option. Anywho, I have been a little bummed about that and not much in the mood to chat. I have a friend who says she knows someone who will keep her for me for a while, so I'm just pretty much biding my time until he pushes the issue, and then I'll make her go if I have to. It really, really sucks though, because I really like it here. Phil and I get along great, and the dogs love it here. Not to mention that, if we leave, poor Brutus will be alone again. He loves my dogs, and Phil's gone a lot, so he spends a lot of time alone sometimes, but i'll have to move if he makes her go. I told Phil that, and he says I probably won't be able to find anyone who'll let me have her either, but I'm going to try and find someone who will anyway. I'm not willing to just give her up and let her go.. that's my baby..she's my heart. Not a lot of places will take big dogs, and especially when I have the other 2 as well..and a cat. It might take me a while to find a place, but I'll find one eventually. My friend, Brenda, has 13 danes and she managed to find a place to rent to her. She and I are talking about getting a place together, because she just moved but she'd like to move again, so I may do that. It will suck having to leave here in a lot of ways, but then again it would be really nice to live somewhere close to civilization again, instead out in the "back of beyond" where I can't even get a pizza delivered. I can't even get cell phone reception out here, and don't get me started on the nasty, sulfur-y water. It cost me 40.00 to take a cab to the grocery store and back one day. That will tell ya how far out I am LOL It's just gonna break my heart.. A LOT..to have to send her away for even a little while. oh well, I'll work it all out, and it will all work out in the end the way it's meant to be..it always does.

Oh well, I tried...

So, I've really kinda screwed the pooch on this NaBloPoMo thing. I haven't quite managed to post every day..or even nearly every day. As luck would have it, I had some computer problems this month, and a few work issues I needed to deal with, and I've been busy working on updates to my starrbrite.com to get that straightened out. It kinda needs an overhaul. Plus I've been spending a lot of time on Gather and with various other stuff..so, needless to say, my blog posting hasn't been what it should be. But, on the up side, I am still averaging more than 1 post every few months now, so that's a good thing. There's really not a whole big bunch else going on around here. I have a few topics I plan to post about soon, when I have time to sit down and do it.. but for now I'm just hanging out. I can't believe this week is Thanksgiving already! this year has just flown by. Things were kinda up in the air as to what we'd be doing for dinner this year, because my sister usually makes dinner and she has to work this year. There was talk of ordering dinner from Winn Dixie or Publix or something, but we just can't wrap our heads around paying 40.00 to 70.00 for a less than 20 pound turkey and 2 sides, some gravy and a few rolls. It's nice to not have to cook, but it's just not worth it. So, we decided that she'll make the turkey, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes and sweet potato casserole and me and mom will make everything else. I'm looking forward to it. I've actually got a little bit of holiday spirit already, and this is early for me. Maybe thats because they started putting Christmas decorations up on Halloween day, and at least 1 radio station around here is playing Christmas music 24/7 already..nothing like rushing things a bit.. but, I guess making the holiday season last as long as possible isn't a bad thing. Mmmm.. cant wait for Turkey Day!

What A Doll..

I'm sure by now, most people have heard of Real Dolls. Those life-like, life-sized sex toy dolls that cost about 6500.00 each. I read an article today on Trendhunter that said that the company grossed over 2 million last year. 2 million dollars!! for fake girls for pervs to have sex with. I knew about the dolls, but I didn't know that some guys have websites set up dedicated to their dolls, and they consider their dolls to be a "legitimate lifestyle choice". What's next? marriage ceremonies for men and their real dolls? Why shouldn't men like them, they're perfect, never nag, never talk back, never put them down, never complain that they don't satisfy them..and they can have them made to their specifications, dress them...or not dress them.. as they see fit, and they don't care if they spend all day lounging on the couch, drinking beer and watching football. They're still ready and willing to provide a night of hot monkey loving.. or as hot as sex with a fake rubber doll can get. Before long, we'll have the motorized, robot version like you see in some futuristic sci-fi movies. It kinda reminds me of one of my favorite movies. It came out in the late 80's, I believe, called Cherry 2000 with Melanie Griffith. Where a guy whose Android girlfriend that he loved blows a fuse and he misses her so much he decides to replace her. She was a Cherry 2000 model, and they don't make them anymore, but he gets a tip there's a warehouse full of them but they're in the wastelands. He hires a tracker, played by Melanie Griffith, to help him make it through the wasteland and find the warehouse. It's a great movie. Fortunately, the flesh and blood woman wins out in the end and gets her man..but for some of these guys who own Real Dolls.. I'm not so sure that would be the case with them.

A Sad Day...

I had intended to post about a few things today, but they'll just have to wait. I'm a little sad and distracted today. My cousin's husband died of bone cancer. He was 36, they had been married for 8 years and they have a little girl, and my heart is breaking for them. I'll post more tomorrow, but for tonight I'm not really in the mood.

There are a million things I could think of to write about, but not many that could be done in the time I have to devote to composing anything of value today.. I got stuff to do. I will try to do better tomorrow when I have more time...in case anyone cares. Tomorrow I'm gonna try to find time to write about this new site I found..

Idiots Who Don't Know Their Job

Today is the first official day of NaBloPoMo and I almost screwed up the very first day. It's 11:00 p.m. and I'm just getting in my post for today, because my computer decided to stop working this morning. I fired it up this morning and it stayed on for about 10 minutes, and then it shut itself off. So, I turned it on again.. and after about 10 minutes it shut itself off again. I popped open the case to have a look and saw that the CPU fan had stopped working,so the processor was overheating and shutting it off. I was not a happy camper, at all! Of course, since I don't have a car, I had to call my dad and see if I could get him to run to CompUsa for me and get me a new fan. They had some running around to do but agreed to go to Best Buy instead of CompUsa, because the closest CompUsa is on the other side of the river...way far from here.. This wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that the morons who work at Best Buy don't know their ass from their elbow. They said they didn't have CPU fans, even though the girl I talked to when I called to ask if they did told me that they did have them. They had case fans, but no CPU fans. Now, I'm no computer genious, but I could have sworn I remembered J having several fans in his case, and the CPU fan and he bought them all at the same time and the same place..they're pretty much standard..but I was assured this was not the case by the mental midgets at Best Buy. I then called Circuit City and was told that they didn't carry CPU fans by themselves, I would have to buy a whole heat sink with the fan.. to the tune of about 30.00 Since I wasn't there to look at the fans myself, I agree, thinking they must know what they'r talking about..they're the computer guys. The thing they brought to me was a totally different style than the one I have already and there was no way it was going to fit into my case..so I screwed the fan off of the heat sink and screwed the fan onto the heat sink I already had, and it works like a charm! Next time, i'll know better than to listen to those idiots.

Trick or Treat! What's In Your Candy Bowl

Lions and tigers and bears.. OH MY! Yes, Kids..it's that time again. Tomorrow is Halloween night, and all your friends and family members will be magically tranformed into scary creatures and things that go bump in the night. Then, sometime around sundown tomorrow night, the streets will be filled with miniature witches and ghosts and Hannah Montanas and Harry Potters..or whatever the hot costume is this year. Unless your neighborhood is like mine and the houses are too far apart to walk to trick or treating.. I'm not sure what they do around here for Halloween actually.. hmmmm. Do kids still even trick or treat anymore in most places? Sad...we used to walk from street to street and house to house.. dressed in real costumes, not a boxed one with a plastic mask.. freezing our butts off most of the time, cuz it tends to be chilly in Massachusetts in October.. and we'd come home with bags full of goodies and be on a sugar high for a week! Ahhhh ...the good ol' days!! We always knew which house to go to .. which ones gave out the good stuff, and which ones gave out popcorn balls, apples - which we weren't allowed to eat of course, or those little Dum Dum pops. The real good ones.. the ones that gave out full size chocolate bars or some other treasure..we'd sometimes hit twice! I love candy bars..or anything chocolate, really.. so my favorites were always the ones that gave out Snickers, 3 Muskteers, Milky Ways, KitKats, or M&Ms.. So, what are you giving out this year? Did you even buy any candy?

Hi, I'm trying out this...

Hi, I'm trying out this new program that I found. It's called Jott, it allows you to blog from your cell phone and it will transcribe whatever you want to post into your blog. Or you can have it post a voice file so that you can listen to it rather than having it transcribed so I'm checking out, see how it goes and I'll let you know how it goes when we see how this posts to the blog. listen

Complaints Board.. a cool website

If your inbox and your spam folder look anything like mine, I'm sure you get tons of ads and offers every day, and some of them can seem really great. I got one today from one of the survey companies I do surveys with for a thing called Horizon Gold Credit Card. They claimed to give you a $500 unsecured credit card with no credit check, etc. RIIIIGHT!! Well, having been aroud the block a few times, I looked for the fine print.. There's ALWAYS fine print, where they tell you the outrageous fees, or that it really is a secured card and you need a deposit, etc.. but I didn't see any so I decided to Google it and see what I could find out. I came up with this website called Complaints Board http://www.complaintsboard.com/ where there were, of course, numerous complaints about this company, explaining that it's not really a credit card, it's one of those they give you a credit limit to buy their crap from their website.. and they charge you 79.95 to join.. which it didn't say ANYWHERE on the ad I received. So, I saved myself the hassle of getting hooked by this scam.. and found a great new website. This site has tons of stuff listed that are searchable by subject or by website/product name, and it has tips for consumers and all kinds of other helpful stuff. You can register a complaint about anything you're not satisfied with too, and you don't even have to register or anything like that to do it. Works for me!

Good Gawd. Brutus!

My roomie has a dog, named Brutus. He's a boxer, and he's a really good dog. Except for one thing. Brutus is a farter. Now, I know that some people like to pass a little gas and blame it on the dog, but this time it really is him. I have always had dogs, and I have 3 of my own now, and on occasion I know they do tend to let one loose, and it's usually pretty funny. Especially when they're really loud and you can hear them cuz, let's face it, dog farts are funny, or maybe that's just me. Brutus's farts, however, are no laughing matter. They're toxic, noxious, nose-punishing and constant. I don't know if it's the brand of food Phil buys, or the fact that he has taken to eating both his food and some of my dog's food, in combination with the table scraps I share with him, or just some intestinal disorder he's suffering from, but he's foul. Okay, it is still kind of funny, even as bad as it is, but I just wish it was a lot less frequent. Really, it's all day, several times a day, and nobody else seems to smell them but me. He never does them when anyone else is around. It's like he saves them until we're alone together, a token of love like cats who leave dead things on the porch as gifts. It wouldn't be that big of a problem, except Brutus loves me, and he insists on being as close to me as possible whenever he can get away with it. His dad tries to keep him out of my room and make him stay in the living room, because he doesn't like him on the carpets, but he'll sneak in here every chance he gets and lie down right next to me.. sometimes so close he's sitting or sleeping on my foot. Then, I'll be sitting here, minding my own business, working or playing or whatever I happen to be doing and suddenly I'll be hit with something that smells like, to quote Michael Jackson, "the funk of 40,000 years". It happens with no warning, because his are of the silent but deadly variety in most cases, I'll have to cover my mouth until it's safe to breathe again. Maybe I should take him to a doggy GI doctor and get him scoped. I guess I could just lock him out of my room and throw him out every time he manages to get in, but it would break his heart. Could you be mean to this face?

Guess I should just invest in a good pair of noseplugs.

A Little "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" at Hogwarts

I stole this pic from someone's blog and forgot to copy the address..sorry if it was yours. :O)

So, J.K. Rowling has pubicly "outed" Dumbledore! In case you haven't heard, she announced that Dumbledore was gay..saying, 'I've always thought he was gay". Well, she would know being the author, wouldn't she? So, what does that mean? why come out with something like that? I, personally, couldn't care less about his sexuality, and I'm sure most don't either, it may even give some another reason to be fascinated with the character, another layer of the onion that is Dumbledore to peel.. but it just gives those already crying about how the HP books promote withcraft and are evil another bone to run with. You can bet, if they're against promoting wicca and witchcraft, they are, more than likely, against being gay too. LOL So, I've been reading message boards and blogs.. as I so often do..and some are claiming it's wrong of her to have said that, and she is pandering for a little sexual titillation to bring back renewed interest in the books..like they need that!.. before Halloween. Some say she was just stating a fact, he's gay, another facet, like he has blue eyes, big deal! .. and some believe she did it as a jab at those who try to ban the HP book, etc.. another bone to chew. Well, I don't know why she did it.. but I'm wondering what people think about it. So, what do you think?

I have a friend who is going to school to be a hairdresser and another who has been a hairdresser for quite a while. Every time I talk to them, it seems they're telling me about one friend or family member or acquaintance of some kind who wants them to cut their hair for them.. usually for free. I also know a few people who have trucks, and someone is always asking them to borrow their truck or asking them to help them move, or to go pick up a large item with/for them because it won't fit in their car. So, I got to thinking.. when do you draw the line? How do you say no to friends and family when they ask you to do something like this.. I'm sure computer techs, web designers, doctors, lawyers, and anyone with any kind of special skill gets the same thing all the time. Most people, because they are friends..even when they aren't that close of a friend, will expect people to do things for them free, or at greatly reduced prices.. I know I do it sometimes too. We forget that these people do these things for a living and get paid, it's their job, so why do we expect them to do it for free for us? In the case of people who own trucks, why do we assume they want to spend their weekends or spare time schlepping heavy stuff for us ..for free..delivery people and movers make pretty decent money, yet we use and abuse our friends. Most people are too nice to say no, and the ones who do say no, they won't do it for free, I'm sure are thought of as money grubbing or stingy or unreasonable.. after all, how can you charge a friend or family member? Does this happen to you? do you do it to others? would you expect to pay a friend who cuts your hair or performs a service they normally get paid for, for you?

Hit Me Up!

Good Gawd am I outta the loop. I used to blog like a fiend..updating several times a day. I visited other people I found by surfing through blogs and checking out other people's blogrolls and have quite a good list of blogs I love..like Dooce, Buzz, and Helen (she and the Lemonheads are home and doing SPECTACULAR..btw).. But now, having been pretty much out of the whole blogging thing for so long I had no clue just how many networking/ community/ blogging/social sites there are.. I have been a member of MySpace, Yahoo360, Blogger, Hi5, Tagged, StumbleUpon and a few others for quite a while and I have small lists of friends on each that, unfortunately, I rarely have time to visit or interact with anymore. I miss them...now, today I decided it was high time I got back into blogging a little bit..catch up.. visit some old friends and update my blog and my personal domain site (in progress still).. and there's so MANY things out there to join. ..de-li-cious and Furl, Bebo, blog this and blog that Digg, Redditt, Blinklist.. on and on and on..not to mention YouTube, Kaboodle and Flikr and those sorts of things.. YouTube is a time-sucking void that it's very easy to waste hours a day surfing and checking stuff out.. Don't even get me started on Ebay and Wikipedia!!..and I have one burning question.. where the HELL do you people find the time to update and network and keep track of all of these communities in any kind of real way? LOL

Well.. I found and joined MyBlogLog today, and I think I'll really like that one.. and Twitter.. another I have high hopes for. If you're stopping by and you are looking for me on any one of these networking sites, you can usually find me under JaxVenus or Suze05. One place I spend a bit of time...aside from Singsnap because I'm addicted and the addicted can't help themselves.. is Mylot.. so if you're a member look me up.. if not check it out Mylot

Hey..guess what! I'm still alive! LOL I know I abandoned my blog for a while.. and I probably won't be posting after tonight on any kind of a regular basis either.. but ya never know. I just wanted to put a little something in here while I've got a few spare minutes to let anyone who may remember I used to blog here and care that I am still alive. Lots and lots of changes since the last time I posted. The biggest one DING DONG THE PITA'S GOOOOONE!! Yes, I finally did it.. I'm finally free officially as of the end of last January..wow..has it been that long since I've posted?? Time sure flies. I got a new baby last August.. a year ago this past August.. wow..dang it HAS been a long time since I've updated LOL I'll post some pics of her later. There's a few of her at the link above. Her name is Daisy and shes a 1 year old black Great Dane.. she's the most beautiful puppy EVER! She was just in heat until the end of this past week, and I was supposed to breed her ..but I couldn 't do it this time.. long story . But next time she goes into heat, I will most likely be breeding her..she's gonna make some gorgeous babies, so if anyone's in the market for a great dane puppy let me know!

I also have a new honey.. we've been dating since February 15th. His name is Mike and I've known him for about 3 years. I'll post pics of him another time too because at the moment I'm not having great luck with trying to get pics to post.. or finding my pics.. grrr..

A year ago last August I discovered online karaoke! I love karaoke.. and this is the best site .. its at www.singsnap.com. If you love to sing, go check it out. It's free and they have about a zillion songs and over 10,000 members.. You can check me out here.. I didn't say I was any good.. just that I love it LOL http://www.singsnap.com/snap/profile/overview/a52b88

Well, I know this post is very short and spare on the details after not posting for so long, but it's late and I got a bunch of stuff I want to get done. I'll try to post some more later.
